Location

Clark Island State Park is 1.75 miles northeast of Orcas Island, San Juan County.

Acreage

55.05 acres with approximately 11,292 feet of saltwater shoreline on the Strait of Georgia.

Acquired

This park was acquired from the Federal Government in 1964 at no cost.

Historical Background

The island was named by the 1841 Wilkes Expedition honoring John Clark, a midshipman killed in Perry's Battle of Lake Erie.

Facilities

8 campsites, 2 picnic sites with fire rings, 9 moorage buoys, 2 vault toilets, 1 storage building, and 1 bulletin board. The island has no drinking water, and park visitors remove their own garbage.

Activities

Primitive camping, picnicking, saltwater fishing, hiking, scuba diving and clam digging.
